On November 11, 2024, Friedrich Lüdeke, Trainer and Consultant for Standard Management (Crops), accepted an invitation from FarmTechSociety to represent GLOBALG.A.P. at the exclusive pre-opening of the Inhouse Farming – Feed & Food Show, EnergyDecentral, and EuroTier exhibitions, held at the Hanover Convention Center, Germany.
This high-profile event provided a unique platform for networking with trade organizations, industry leaders, policymakers, researchers, and media experts focused on the future of renewable energy, agricultural innovation, and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA).
Titled “Addressing the Elephant in the Room: Renewable Energy Solutions for the Future of Digital Infrastructure, CEA and Food and Feed Systems,” the event explored strategies to enhance CEA systems’ sustainability and profitability. Keynote speaker Tisha Livingston, Co-Founder of 80 Acres Farms, emphasized the importance of digital transformation and innovative energy solutions, envisioning a future where technologies such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and microgrids drive efficiency and competitiveness across the supply chain. Livingston underscores the vision for a thriving CEA industry with the aim of creating a perfect day for plants, every day.
Throughout the evening, participants discussed standardization and sustainable energy as pivotal areas for the industry’s advancement. As a long-time collaborator with FarmTechSociety, GLOBALG.A.P. actively integrated CEA topics into Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) version 6 with the strong contributions from FarmTechSociety and their members. CEA will continue to be of special interest for further developments.
GLOBALG.A.P. expresses gratitude to DLG e.V. and FarmTechSociety for hosting an inspiring event, paving the way for sustainable, tech-driven growth in agriculture.
